  1. Find the volume of a prism that is 9 cm long, 4 cm wide and 5 cm tall.
  2. A prism has a volume of 252 in3 and a base area of 42 in2. Find its height.

3 A composite solid / 4 pts

Find the volume of this solid. All the angles are right angles.

  1. Cut the solid into two prisms and add their volumes.
  2. Check your answer by subtracting a missing piece from a big block.

4 The sandbox / 3 pts

A sandbox is 8 ft long, 6 ft wide and 2 ft deep. Bags of sand each contain 4 ft3.

  1. Find the volume of the sandbox.
  2. How many bags are needed to fill it?

5 Ribbons on a line plot / 3 pts

The line plot shows the lengths, in feet, of 6 pieces of ribbon.

  1. How many pieces are longer than 1 ft?
  2. If all the ribbon is cut and shared equally among the 6 pieces, how long is each piece?

6 A fish tank / 3 pts

A fish tank is 30 cm long, 20 cm wide and 25 cm tall. Remember that 1 cm3 holds 1 mL.

  1. Find its volume in cm3.
  2. Give its capacity in liters.
  3. Nina has poured in 12 L of water. How many milliliters are still needed to fill it?
