Test solutions with the detailed point scale. Add up your points and spot what to review.

Suggested time: 45 minutes. Out of 20 points. Calculator allowed only when the problem says so.

2 Fractions / 4 pts

a) \(-\dfrac{45}{60}=-\dfrac{3}{4}\) (1 pt). b) \(\dfrac{3}{2}\cdot\dfrac{8}{3}=4\) (1 pt). c) \(-\dfrac{7}{8}\cdot\dfrac{12}{7}=-\dfrac{3}{2}\) (1 pt). d) \(\dfrac{15}{4}\cdot\left(-\dfrac{2}{3}\right)=-\dfrac{5}{2}\) (1 pt).

3 Decimals / 3 pts

a) \(0.45\) (1 pt). b) \(0.\overline{5}\) (1 pt). c) \(1.8\overline{3}\) (1 pt).

4 Order of operations / 4 pts

a) \(5-9=-4\); \((-3)(-4)=12\); \(12\div 2=6\); \(-8+6=-2\) (2 pts). b) \(\dfrac{3}{4}\cdot\left(-\dfrac{2}{3}\right)=-\dfrac{1}{2}\); then \(\dfrac{1}{2}-\left(-\dfrac{1}{2}\right)=1\) (2 pts).

5 Properties / 3 pts

a) \(18\cdot\left(-\dfrac{5}{6}\right)+18\cdot\dfrac{2}{9}=-15+4=-11\) (2 pts). b) multiplicative inverse, because the numbers are reciprocals (1 pt).

6 Pool level / 3 pts

Drop: \(6\cdot\left(-\dfrac{7}{4}\right)=-\dfrac{42}{4}=-10.5\) (1 pt). Add the rain: \(-10.5+2.5\) (1 pt). Net change: \(-8\) inches, a drop of 8 inches (1 pt).
