1 Tiles and rows / 3 pts

A kitchen floor is covered with 1-foot square tiles in 6 rows of 8 tiles. A pantry floor is covered with 9 rows of 5 tiles.

  1. Write a multiplication sentence and find the area of the kitchen floor.
  2. Which floor has the greater area, and by how much?

2 Rectangle measures / 4 pts

No calculator.

  1. A rectangle is 11 m long and 8 m wide. Find its area and its perimeter.
  2. Another rectangle has an area of 72 square inches and a length of 9 in. Find its width and its perimeter.

3 Break it apart / 4 pts

A rectangular mural is 9 ft long and 7 ft tall. Mina splits the length 9 into \(6 + 3\).

  1. Find the area of the part that is 6 ft long and the part that is 3 ft long, both 7 ft tall.
  2. Find the area of the whole mural.
  3. Name the property Mina used.

4 Around the polygon / 3 pts

  1. A pentagon has sides of 5 cm, 8 cm, 6 cm, 9 cm, and 4 cm. Find its perimeter.
  2. A triangle has a perimeter of 27 in. Two sides are 10 in and 8 in. Find the third side.

5 Same area / 3 pts

Rectangles with an area of 18 square units have whole-number sides.

  1. Complete a table of all the possible length and width pairs, with the perimeter of each.
  2. Which rectangle has the smallest perimeter?

6 An L-shaped room / 3 pts

The plan shows an L-shaped room. All lengths are in meters.
