Suggested time: 45 minutes. Out of 20 points. Calculator allowed only when the problem says so.

2 Multiplying decimals / 4 pts

Compute.

  1. \(2.6 \times 7\)
  2. \(0.45 \times 6\)
  3. \(1.2 \times 0.8\)
  4. \(3.5 \times 0.04\)

3 Place the decimal point / 3 pts

You know that \(47 \times 23 = 1{,}081\). Give each product.

  1. \(4.7 \times 2.3\)
  2. \(0.47 \times 23\)
  3. \(4.7 \times 0.023\)

4 Division / 3 pts

Compute.

  1. \(18.4 \div 4\)
  2. \(0.54 \div 6\)
  3. \(15 \div 0.3\)

5 Area model / 3 pts

Use a 10 by 10 grid that represents 1 whole to find \(0.4 \times 0.8\). Explain what you shade and give the product.

6 Training for a race / 3 pts

Marcus runs 1.75 miles every day for 6 days. His goal for the week is 12 miles.

  1. How many miles does he run in 6 days?
  2. How many miles are left to reach his goal?
  3. He splits the remaining distance equally over 3 days. How far does he run each day?
